雑貨店のインテリアデザインである。
この店舗が位置する奈良は、710年に平城京が置かれ784年までの75年間、日本の首都として栄えた多くの文化遺産が残る街である。
現在でも多くの伝統的な祭事が行われており、祭事の時には人の流れが通常の数十倍にもなる。
このような立地において、7.5㎡という狭小空間の店舗のあり方について考え、デザインをした。
通常時、通りを歩く人々に対して、ウィンドウディスプレイと看板として、店内においては商品棚と収納、プランターケースとして機能する什器を設置した。
祭事の混雑時には、建具を移動することにより、この什器がカウンターとして機能し、側面販売から対面販売へと店舗の形態を変え、通常時の数十倍の来客にも対応することが可能となる。
いくつかの機能を合わせる方法は、狭小空間の店舗では常套手段であるが、今回は店舗の形態まで変化させることを試みた。
また床を塗り分ることで、店内へのアプローチと通路を白、カウンターへのアプローチをグレーとしている。
いくつもの個性のあるキャラクターたちがその世界を形成するように、多様な素材を組み合わせて作られた個性のある什器や照明が集まり、ひとつの空間を形成することを狙っている。

This project is a gift store for souvenirs, featuring the local mascot deer, Roku.
The store is located in Nara.
The city of Nara was the capital city of Japan from the year 710 to 784 and is today home to many cultural heritage sites and various traditional events, festivals and rituals.
On ordinary days, the flow of people on the street is relaxed.
However, during events the streets become extremely crowded.
With this in mind, I designed the 7,5m2 store, considering the atmosphere of the site and its changing flow of people.
Due to the small scale of the project, I worked with multifunctional elements in the shop.
During ordinary days, the sliding door is opened to the right and the shop is fully open for visitors.
The piece of furniture in the window works as counter, display, storage and planter in the shops interior and as signboard towards the street.
On crowded days, the door is opened to the left and functions as a display window for the various souvenirs.
And the counter connects directly with the exterior, street and people.
By using the design to change the space and sales tactics, it becomes possible to service the large number of passing people during crowded times.
Colors and materials are used to mark the different zones.
The floor space is defined by light and dark areas of troweled mortar.
Light for the passage of visitors and dark for the shop elements.
Many attractive characters with strong personalities likes Roku make up the world.
In the same way by gathering furniture and lights with strong qualities, I expect to create a unified space in the small world of the shop.
